The Violet Connection brings the sounds of the 50s and 60s and beyond to life.

From Rock 'n' Roll and Motown to timeless classics, the duo creates a warm feel-good atmosphere with songs everyone knows and loves. Together Andy's decades of live performance experience and Louise's expressive, engaging performance style create an evening full of music, memories and connection.
The Violet Connection is comprised of Andy and Louise. Andy plays lead guitar and sings a few faster rockier numbers such as by Little Richard or Jerry Lee Lewis. Louise is the main singer with her versatile voice creating the main vocals. On top of this there is a backing track, but it is not your average backing track! Andy creates each one himself, meticulously programming the drums beat by beat to sound as close to a live drummer as possible. He then records the rhythm guitar and bass as required, creating a full-band sound while retaining the feel and energy of live music. The beauty of this is a full band sound for less money, and probably less arguments. The results speak for themselves.Â
Lead Guitarist & Vocalist
Five years ago Andy came back to music after a break of 18 years.Â
Andy started playing guitar at the age of 13, taught by his father, a former 60s guitarist, and inspired by the sounds of Hank Marvin and Chuck Berry. At the age of 14 he joined an old time band called the York Showband, formerly the Ted Levitt show band. They probably performed at every care home in York and some further afield for a number of years. The old time music gave him an excellent grounding in unusual and rapid chord progressions.Â
Soon after he also joined a trio called Bruce Elder & The Country Crew, playing primarily country and Western but also, what was known as, middle of the road. The popular trio played all over the North of England. This was alongside the York Showband.Â
At times he also sat in with the Jay Cee Trio, a dance band performing at Rufforth Village Hall.
After stopping music for a year Andy answered an ad in the local paper and helped form a duo called Senora, soon changed to Rockabilly. Rockabilly, also a popular duo, performed a mixture of country and rock & roll in pubs and working men's clubs around York and surrounding areas, but also as far a field as Morecambe Raiders, Bridlington Spa, Whalesby Country Festival, and anywhere in between.
Fast forward 18 years and after auditioning a number of singers who weren't suitable or weren't interested he found a singer and formed Stood On The Wire, a 50s & 60s duo.
The singer left after 4 years. Then came along Louise Violet, a new duo was formed.

Louise brings warmth, energy and a natural sense of performance to The Violet Connection.

A lifelong lover of music, singing and dance, she spent many years as a competitive disco dancer, where she became known for her expressive performance style, facial expression and artistic flair. Those same qualities now come through in her vocals - she doesn’t simply sing a song, she loves to perform it and connect with the audience.

Louise brings a fresh energy to much-loved songs from the 50s, 60s and beyond – particularly Motown, girl-group classics, soul and rock ’n’ roll.

For Louise, live music is about more than getting every note right. It’s about creating a feeling, bringing back memories and giving people a reason to smile, sing along - and hopefully get up and dance.

And alongside Andy’s decades of live musical experience, she brings the other half of The Violet Connection - personality, movement, expression and a genuine love of connecting with people.
